She sums up our experience at Fanime better than I could soooo, rebloging >:)
So, Fanime.
I took decent handful of pics, but none were quite as fun and awesome as this one.
The crowd was great, and sales were fantastic! Prints, originals, and I sold out of all my copies of chapter 1 of Elysion Age.
There were a ton of awesome people in the artist alley. I got to meet dawnchapel, mera, eldritchsky, alexds1, miraongchua, derlaine, and ethe! I also got to hang out more with Mandi, which was epic fun and filled with off color hilarity, which is the best kind of hilarity. Getting to meet people face to face and hang out for a bit here and there made the con totally worth it.
That said, it is the most poorly run con that Justin and I attend. Like whoa. And the thing is, the complete lack of organization would be completely excusable if the heads of staff weren’t such massively hate filled little people. I heard a lot of excuses as to why they feel the need to carry themselves the way they do, but none of them make sense. We’ve been to cons just as large as they are (and larger!), and those other cons don’t seem to feel the need to treat artists like gum they found on the bottom of their shoes.
And when I say heads of staff, I do mean them specifically. There are people on fanime staff that are helpful and wonderful.
But anyway. It was definitely an eventful con. Onto the next one (califur), and then I’m going to crash for at least a couple days before putting my nose back to the grindstone.
